I have taught at Fairfield ISD since 2002 and was in Cayuga ISD for 4 years prior to moving to Fairfield. I have taught 1st grade for 9 years, 2nd grade for 2 years, 4th grade for 10 years, back to 2nd grade for another year and am now a Dyslexia and Intervention Teacher! I LOVE my job and am passionate about my students!
I have been at Fairfield ISD since 2010. I also taught 1st grade at Cayuga Elementary School from 1998-2002.
Prior to my formal teaching I was a Supervisor at Sheltering Arms Emergency Shelter and Assessment Center for Children ages birth to eighteen in Bryan, Texas. We were a shelter primarily for children removed from their homes in emergency situations by CPS. Our facility gathered medical, psychological, educational, etc. assessments while providing loving and safe care for these children and youth as they went through an extremely traumatic experience in their young lives. In addition to supervisory and child care duties, I assisted teaching in a K-12th grade classroom for students unable to be in a public school setting.
I have been married to John Thorne since 1995 and we have 3 beautiful children; Taylor, Alyssa, and Will. John is a Texas Game Warden K-9 unit and often visits our classroom and offers fun, eductaional programs for our students.
I love movies, reading, and Hobby Lobby! However, my favorite past time is spending time with my family and friends.
